Layers of the Psyche

This image makes me think about how many layers there are within us. We have the surface, what we present to the world, the masks we feel we have to wear that cover up what lives within us. There's what's reflected in us, the things that society and our friends and family project onto us, good and bad. And then there's the depths of the unconscious, lurking just beneath the surface, sometimes visible through the mask(s), other times deep in the darkness.
